Assala

Aussie & little boy (7).jpeg

Assala, her name meaning "originality" or "greatness" in Arabic is a large white mare with gray spots across her flank and a partially gray face. Her mane alternates between gray and white and she seems to always be poised to run. She is very quick and graceful on her feet which, combined with her skittishness, makes it fairly difficult to get very close to her. She is often one of the first horses on the lower part of the preserve to show up for eating but will not get too close to the Ranger that carries the hay, instead, very patiently waiting for the volunteers to put a hay flake down next to the tree she almost always eats at (depicted). She is a gorgeous, smart and cautious horse and we love her all the more for it.
